Many people consider their pets as part of their family and would do just about anything or spend any amount of money to maintain their pet's health. Raising a healthy cat or dog does not need to be challenging or cost a fortune. A healthy diet could eliminate or prevent a host of ailments and greatly reduce veterinarian bills. Consequently, among some of the most important nutrients within that diet are the essential fatty acids, Omega 3 6 9. Research in America and Australia has revealed that Emu Oil has an ample supply of Omega 3 and 6.

Veterinarians warn that a lack of essential fatty acids in your animal's diet can lead to severe problems. This can cause a deficiency, followed by signs of flaky skin and a dull coat in cats and dogs. If these signs are spotted at an early stage and remedied, a host of other problems could be prevented. The answer may entail a simple addition to the pet's diet.

research indicates that Omega6 (linoleic acid) is the only essential fatty acid known to be needed by dogs, and one of only two needed by cats. Commercially processed animal food (especially reduced calorie) are often found lacking in sufficient amounts of Omega 6. Consequently, cats and dogs may not be getting sufficient Omega 6 because it is lacking in thier diet. Omega 6 fatty acids are known to aid with, among other things:

  • Regulation of blood flow to body tissues.
  • Blood clotting after an injury.
  • Normal reproduction.
  • Immune system responses to injury and infection.
  • Maintenance of healthy coat and skin.
  • Increased energy levels.

Then there is Omega 3, whose role in the feline and canine diet is still being researched. According to veterinarian Shawn Messonnier of Plano, Texas, it is believed that Omega 3 helps to manage inflammation in certain skin disorders, aid with nervous system maintenance and growth, aid with visual acuity and aid in the remission of, and decrease the side effects of lymphoma.

Research shows that the supply of Omega 6 and 3 in 100% natural Emuy Oil could alleviate the deficiency in the diet of cats. Pet owners are finding that when they consistently add Emu Oil to their pet's diet, their cat or dog has more energy, their coats are shiny and they do not scratch as much. Many cat owners who provide Emu Oil in their cat's diet say that fur balls are also no longer a problem. Based upon the numerous benefits of adding Emu Oil to a pet's diet, owners say it is an inexpensive way to keep their pet healthy.

Holistic Care

Dr. Messonnier defines Holistic Care as care that touches the whole animal; in other words, what is best for the pet. A number of manufacturers of pet products are beginning to introduce a holistic line of shampoos and conditioners for cats and dogs that contain Emu Oil. research indicates that the addition of Emu Oil to these products will help relieve itching caused by the drying effects of the shampoo or conditioner, and provide cats and dogs with shiny coats.

Dr. Messonnier recommends the following steps to keeping your pet healthy:

* Feed a natural diet. read the label on your pet's food. Avoid by-products and chemicals like BHT, BHA, and ethoxyquin whenever possible.

* Don't wait until your pet becomes ill. Regular physical examinations (every 6 to 12 months) and blood and urine testing will help prevent illness.

* Focus on maintaining your pet's good health, rather than simply treating disease. A healthy pet is less likely to become ill.

Wounds

More and more animal owners are discovering tha Pure Emu Oil can be used on pets in many applications, whether internal or external, to improve many conditions without side effects. Omega 3 and Omega 6 fatty acids play a key role in nourishment of an animal's skin. Veterinarians are finding that Emu Oil is an anti-inflammatory and transdermal. Some common uses of Emu Oil on pets are for skin problems where there is drying and flaking of the skin, minor cuts and abrasions and hot spots. This holistic oil is also used as a liniment for muscle related soreness, arthritis and the swelling in joiunts and fetlocks of animals (the ankle of a horse, llama, etc.).

Michael J. Politis, who received his D.M.V. at Western College of Veterinary Medicine, Saskatoon, Saskatchewan uses Emu Oil on his own animals as well as in his veterinary practice. "It works extremely well, " Politis said, "I even used it with an animal whose wound was over 24 hours old". Dr. Politis said he has had success with his own animals as well as with other cases presented to him, and that Emu Oil is one of the most untapped natural products that we have access to.

Today, pet owners and their veterinarians are discovering that Emu Oil is also the Natural Alternative for a healthier pet.
